LHU Awarded Certificate of Merit by the Minister of Education and Training for Active Contributions in Supporting Student Entrepreneurship.

On 26 October 2023, the Minister of Education and Training issued a Decision to award Certificates of Merit to 16 collectives for their active contributions in implementing Decision No. 1665 dated 30 October 2017 of the Prime Minister on the Project to Support Students in Entrepreneurship until 2025. Notably, Lac Hong University was honored to be among these 16 collectives. This recognition serves as concrete evidence of LHU’s continuous efforts over nearly a decade in developing the entrepreneurial movement within the University in particular and in Dong Nai Province in general.

In 2015, the Rector of Lac Hong University directed the University’s academic staff to help students find new directions in the context of limited employment opportunities after graduation. This directive laid the foundation for the development of the University’s entrepreneurship program. The University’s entrepreneurial ecosystem gradually took shape. Startup competitions and seminars with startup enterprises were organized under the orientation of the National Startup Program led by Business Forum Magazine (under VCCI).

In 2016, the University leadership decided to establish the Startup Club. In 2017, the University invested in a Coworking Space at Campus 2, fully equipped to incubate student enterprises. Currently, PhD Lam Thanh Hien – Rector of the University – continues to show strong interest in and actively promote the University’s entrepreneurship program.

PhD Nguyen Van Tan – Dean of FAIE – Head of the Executive Board of the Dong Nai Provincial Innovation and Startup Advisory Council.

Each year, the University allocates funding to invest in startup projects. The annual KPI assigned by the Rector to the management team of the University’s entrepreneurship program requires at least one project to reach the National Final Round of the “SV-STARTUP” competition for students, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The entrepreneurial ecosystem of Lac Hong University has been comprehensively developed (including the establishment of the Startup Club, Coworking Space, mentor system, and modern laboratories), with members actively participating in startup communities at provincial, regional, and national levels (Vietnam Startup Mentors Alliance – VSMA; Southern Startup Advisory and Support Council; Dong Nai Provincial Startup Ecosystem Coordination Council; Design Thinking Village of Techfest Vietnam, among others). This engagement has effectively supported the provision of consultation, training, mentoring, and resource connections for students with startup ideas.

At Lac Hong University, the implementation of the entrepreneurship program under Project 1665 is carried out through the Ministry of Education and Training. Each year, student startup projects participate in competitions both within and outside the province, particularly the annual “SV-STARTUP” competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. It can be affirmed that through training and supporting student entrepreneurship, the University has achieved significant accomplishments in recent years, most recently winning 01 Third Prize and 01 Encouragement Prize at SV-STARTUP 2023. This major platform provides student entrepreneurs with an opportunity to develop a different mindset while still at university – the mindset of becoming self-reliant and entrepreneurial.
