LHU rises over 500 places in the Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, reaching the world’s top 801–1000

LHU has once again strengthened its global standing in higher education by being ranked among the world’s top 801–1000 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. This marks the University’s third participation in the ranking and also its most significant advancement to date.

In its first year, LHU was placed in the 1001–1500 band globally, followed by the 1500+ band in its second year. In 2026, the University made a remarkable leap to the 801–1000 band, climbing more than 500 places compared to the previous year.

This achievement reflects LHU’s sustained efforts in education, research, innovation, and community engagement aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

17 Vietnamese universities participate in the 2026 Rankings

In 2026, Vietnam had 17 higher education institutions included in the Sustainability Impact Ratings, namely: University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, FPT University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Duy Tan University, National Economics University, Phenikaa University, The University of Danang, Ton Duc Thang University, Van Lang University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, Lac Hong University, Nam Can Tho University, Dong A University, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Phuong Dong University, and Vietnamese-German University.

Among these institutions, LHU recorded one of the most notable improvements in ranking performance this year. The result highlights the University’s continuous commitment to enhancing academic quality, promoting applied research, strengthening international cooperation, and advancing sustainable development goals.

Outstanding performance in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)

In the 2026 rankings, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) remained one of LHU’s strongest areas, with the University placed in the 201–300 band worldwide. This is LHU’s highest-performing SDG, reflecting its meaningful contributions to healthcare initiatives, quality of life improvement, scientific research, and community service programs.

Strong rankings across many sustainable development areas

Beyond SDG 3, LHU also achieved impressive rankings in several other SDGs.

These results demonstrate LHU’s balanced progress across various dimensions of sustainable development, particularly in health, education, gender equality, international collaboration, innovation, and social responsibility.

Affirming the effectiveness of the LHU 2.0 Strategy

LHU’s rise of more than 500 places in the Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 reflects the effectiveness of its LHU 2.0 Strategy, aimed at becoming a leading application-oriented university in Vietnam and the region by 2045.

The LHU 2.0 Strategy is built upon three strategic pillars: Student 2.0, Community 2.0, and Enterprise 2.0. Through this framework, the University continues to promote practice-oriented education, strengthen innovation, expand international partnerships, and enhance its social impact.

The latest ranking results reflect LHU’s ongoing efforts to improve academic quality, accelerate applied research, expand industry collaboration, foster community development, and promote educational internationalization. In particular, its achievements in SDG 4 - Quality Education and SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals demonstrate the University’s strategic direction toward academic excellence, broader domestic and international cooperation, and stronger connections with businesses, local communities, and development partners.

Notably, the outstanding performance in SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being further reinforces LHU’s role in human resource development, social contribution, and sustainable development.

In the coming years, LHU will continue implementing its three strategic pillars - Student 2.0, Community 2.0, and Enterprise 2.0, while further integrating education with real-world practice, promoting innovation, expanding global partnerships, facilitating knowledge transfer, and increasing the University’s societal impact.

The Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 is an international assessment system measuring universities’ contributions to the 17 SDGs established by the United Nations. It is considered one of the key benchmarks for evaluating the social responsibility and sustainable impact of higher education institutions on communities and society.
