LHU’s inclusion in the top 100 and its impressive jump of 72 places to rank 52nd in the 2026 Vietnam University Rankings (VNUR) is more than a numerical achievement. It clearly reflects the effectiveness of a well-defined development strategy that has been systematically invested in and consistently pursued over the past four years.

VNUR applies an objective approach. It does not use perception-based surveys or self-reported data from universities. It relies on publicly available data that are independently verified. Within this framework, each step upward in ranking represents a recognition of a higher education institution’s internal capacity and governance maturity.
Strategic investment, not trend-driven efforts
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Rector of LHU, shared “From the very beginning, LHU defined rankings not as an immediate goal, but as a measure of its comprehensive quality improvement process. In stead of spreading investments thinly or chasing short-term indicators, the University has focused on core pillars: university governance, quality assurance, education, research, and social engagement”.

Over four consecutive years, the Unviersiry's internal quality assurance system has been continuously strengthened toward standardization, transparency, and measurability. The University has implemented institutional and program accreditation in accordance with both national and international standards, significantly improving the criterion of “recognized quality” - the highest-weighted criterion in the VNUR framework. This lays a solid foundation for sustainable rise, not a temporary one.
Scientific research aligned with capacity and mission
In research, LHU has pursued a path aligned with its applied training orientation. Instead of rapidly expanding the number of publications, the University has focused on developing research in its areas of strength, particularly engineering and technology, innovation, and knowledge transfer.

Scientific and technological activities are closely linked to the practical needs of enterprises and local communities, generating clear real-world value while gradually improving research and innovation -related indicators in the VNUR rankings. This approach demonstrates a commitment to depth, sustainability, and social responsibility in higher education development.
Education at the core of the development strategy
One of LHU’s most notable improvements in the VNUR 2026 lies in the “Teaching” criterion, reflecting the University’s learner-centered educational philosophy.
Investments in faculty development, improved student-to-lecturer ratios, and enhanced teaching conditions have strengthened interaction and engagement within the learning environment. For parents and learners, these improvements provide clear evidence of an institution that prioritizes authentic learning experiences where quality is reflected not only in curricula, but also in students’ day-to-day academic journeys.
Facilities and social engagement: A platform for long-term growth
Alongside its academic pillars, LHU has maintained steady investment in facilities serving teaching, research, and practice. Improvements in learning space per student have contributed positively to the "Facilities" criterion in the VNUR framework.

More notably, industry partnerships, technology transfer, and community engagement are regarded as a part of the University’s sustainable development strategy. The University not only educates human resources, but also participates in solving real-world societal challenges, thereby enhancing both academic value and reputation.
Rankings as a measure of long-term vision
LHU’s strong rise in the VNUR 2026 is the result of persistent investment, not a trend-driven effort. For LHU, rankings are not the final destination but a tool to reflect a long-term development strategy grounded in real quality and data.

The 4-year journey has sent a clear and compelling message to parents, learners and the community that a university develops sustainably by remaining steadfast in quality, transparent in governance, and consistent in vision. This perseverance forms a strong foundation for higher education to deliver lasting value to society.
