From a Million-Dollar Box Office to Student Film Sets: The Undying Spark of Vietnamese Cinema

Moving beyond traditional classrooms and theoretical assignments, Multimedia Communications students have officially embarked on a journey to produce a short film project titled "Ha"  — a vivid testament to the hands-on training philosophy that the faculty steadfastly pursues.

From Classrooms to Film Sets

"Ha" is far from a standard academic assignment. It is a complete short film project executed through a professional production pipeline, spanning script development, pre-production, principal photography, post-production, and final delivery. Multimedia Communications students directly handle the entire project, taking on roles from directing, screenwriting, cinematography, and editing to visual design and project marketing.

This places students precisely in the shoes of working professionals, requiring them to take responsibility, make creative decisions, and solve real-world challenges as they arise — not within a simulated environment, but during the actual creation of a cinematic work.

Behind the project is Cashy — a team of Multimedia Communications students who directly brought the entire project to life, from initial concept development and production to media outreach. Driven by the enthusiasm of those daring to step onto a film set for the first time, Cashy transformed a story waiting to be told into a cinematic piece ready for an audience.

Guided by Faculty, Supported by Industry Experts

The project is implemented under the direct guidance of lecturer Nguyen Le Anh Thi, who has cultivated a learning environment where students are empowered to create, encouraged to make mistakes, and enabled to draw valuable lessons from actual production setbacks.

Notably, "Ha" also brings together an advisory board from the entertainment industry, providing students with practical insights and field experience that cannot be found in any textbook:

• - Acting and Script Advisor: Actor LiO — a young actor with extensive experience in performance, who directly guides and supports the project’s cast in character development, emotional expression, and mastering on-camera acting techniques.

• - Directing Advisor: Director Nguyen Hai Trieu — with a rich background in film and reality TV production, who accompanies students in shaping cinematic language, visual thinking, and managing production directing scenarios on set.

The presence of these industry experts not only elevates the quality of the film but also builds a valuable network connecting students with the creative industry while they are still at university.
