Korean Cultural Experience: Hanbok Wearing and Tea Ceremony

To introduce and expand understanding of Korean culture for students and those interested in Korean culture, the King Sejong Culture Academy is offering a series of special events of "Sejong’s Cultural Month". Opening the event was "Korean Cultural Experience: Hanbok Wearing and Tea Ceremony" taking place on October 28, 2023 at the campus 2, LHU.

The event attracted the participation of many students of LHU and people who love Korean traditional culture.

Hanbok is a traditional clothing of the Korean people. With a long history, Hanbok is not only a costume but also a symbol of Korean culture. In her role, Ms. Na Young Im carefully explained the types of Hanbok and when to wear them. Wearing Hanbok on special occasions has helped maintain and spread Korean cultural values through generations.

At the event, the participants learned the names of the Hanbok's parts and how to wear it in the most accurate and sophisticated way. Next, they had the opportunity to wear Hanbok through the "Check in with Hanbok" activity and take souvenir photos in Korean traditional attire.

Beside Hanbok as the national spirit of Korea, the tea ceremony plays an important role in Korean culture. The tea ceremony features a beauty in spiritual life, a blend of meaningful arts and rituals. Korean culture lovers had the opportunity to learn about the origin and spread of the Korean tea ceremony.

The participants were also instructed on how to enjoy tea and brew tea delicately and properly according to Korean traditional rituals. In addition, the tea ceremony shows respect and cultural sharing.

More thematic events including seasonal customs, history and traditional art performances,... are scheduled to be held on November 11, 18, 19 and 25.
