Connecting Southeastern Vietnam’s universities and colleges: Working together to find solutions for AI applications in education

Artificial intelligence (AI) is gradually changing the way higher education institutions manage, teach, and support learning. However, moving from access to technology to its effective application in practice remains a challenge for each institution. Against this backdrop, a seminar on AI applications in education, organized by the Club of Universities and Colleges in Southeastern Vietnam and hosted by LHU, provided a forum for sharing experiences, discussing solutions, and strengthening cooperation among educational institutions in the region.

From a forum for discussion to a cooperation network among educational institutions

Established by the Vietnam Association of Universities and Colleges in 2021, the Club of Universities and Colleges in Southeastern Vietnam has gradually built a network connecting educational institutions across the region. Through in-person and online seminars, the Club provides opportunities for institutions to share management and training experiences and discuss common issues in higher education.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Pham Ngoc Lan, Head of the Membership Affairs Committee, emphasized “During a period when higher education is being strongly influenced by digital technology, cooperation networks are becoming increasingly important in practice. Issues related to AI applications, teaching method innovation, data management, and quality assurance are no longer concerns for individual institutions alone. Sharing experiences helps institutions identify similar challenges, explore appropriate solutions, and avoid implementing technology separately without effective coordination".

The seminar went beyond professional discussions. Feedback and ideas from the Club’s activities are also collected by the Association as a basis for making recommendations to the Ministry of Education and Training and other competent state agencies. This is one of the important benefits of this cooperation model, helping bring issues arising from the actual operations of educational institutions to broader discussion and consultation forums.

At the event, the Association announced its decision to reorganize the Executive Board of the Club of Universities and Colleges in Southeastern Vietnam. This move helps strengthen the Club’s organizational structure, improve coordination among members, and lay the foundation for the Club to continue fulfilling its role in connecting educational institutions in the coming years.

LHU supports the regional education network as it approaches its 30th anniversary

As the host institution of the 2026 seminar, LHU continues to participate in activities that connect educational institutions, encourage experience sharing, and promote cooperation among universities and colleges. Hosting the seminar also aligns with LHU’s direction of applying technology and promoting digital transformation in management, training, and quality assurance.

As Vice Chairman of the Club, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Rector of LHU, works with the Club’s Executive Board to support the regional education network. He shared “LHU has built its internal data system for a long time. AI needs to be developed not only broadly but also in depth. In addition to developing technological solutions for internal operations, the University focuses on sharing experiences with other educational institutions, expanding cooperation opportunities, and seeking solutions that meet the requirements of educational innovation. In recent years, the University has transferred its solutions to many institutions. In particular, LHU has transferred its work on learning outcome standards to eight universities nationwide".

The seminar was one of the activities leading up to the 30th anniversary of LHU (1997–2027). More than just a professional event, it also reflected the spirit of connection and knowledge sharing throughout the University’s development.

From discussions on AI applications to the strengthening of the Club’s Executive Board and preparations for the next seminar in 2027, the event helped maintain connections among educational institutions in the region. As technology continues to evolve and the demand for higher training quality grows, cooperation networks among universities and colleges, with the support of the Association, provide an important foundation for institutions to adapt, innovate, and achieve sustainable development together.
