LHU strengthens English skills among faculty and staff, expanding international connections

As opportunities for teaching, research, and international collaboration continue to expand, English has become an essential skill in the daily work of university lecturers and staff. Since May 2026, LHU has implemented online English courses for its faculty and staff, with learning pathways designed to match their individual levels.

Online English classes for LHU faculty and staff

The classes integrate Global Digital English courses from the ASU–Cintana program and focus on four main skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Learning materials are delivered through the University's Canvas system, allowing participants to manage their study time and maintain regular learning habits.

Each class is led by an English instructor who supports participants through regular guidance, practice sessions, and Q&A. Participants’ progress is monitored monthly. At the end of the course, participants take an English speaking test to assess their progress and determine their next level. The results also help the University adjust the program to meet learners’ actual needs and learning outcomes.

The program helps participants identify more clearly how they can use English in their work. For lecturers, this may include academic exchanges, accessing professional materials, or gradually preparing for teaching in English. For staff members, stronger language skills can support communication and coordination in an increasingly international working environment.

Offering English classes for faculty and staff is part of LHU's broader effort to build a multicultural learning and working environment. The program provides lecturers and staff with opportunities to gradually strengthen their English skills for teaching, research, and international communication.
